Bag for Pedersen Device
Description
Unused bag for Pedersen Device. The Pedersen was an experimental accessory for the M1903 Springfield rifle, which allowed the firing of a pistol-type cartridge of 0.30 calibre (7.62 mm) in semi-automatic mode. The device was developed to allow an infantryman to convert "his rifle into a form of submachine gun or automatic rifle" in approximately 15 seconds.
Production of the Pedersen device and modified M1903 rifles began in 1918.
