Using reconstructions and period photographs, the author presents the look and feel of U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps advisors in Vietnam. There is a separate chapter on ARVN Ranger, Airborne, and ARVN Infantry advisors, as well as Junk Force, RAG Force, and South Vietnamese Navy and Marine Corps advisors.

The XM148 was an experimental, failure-prone predecessor to the M203, used briefly by US Special Forces. Original documentation for the XM148 is extremely scarce.
