While marketed as a civilian hunting knife in the 1960s, it became a legendary "Private Purchase" (PX) item carried by thousands of US soldiers during the Vietnam War. It features the iconic stacked leather handle with red and white spacers and a carbon steel clip-point blade. The tang is stamped SCHRADE-WALDEN N.Y. U.S.A.. Includes the correct original leather sheath stamped "BOWIE HUNTER".

It originally held 200 rounds of 7.62mm linked ammunition for the iconic M60 machine gun. The stencils clearly detail the 4-to-1 Ball/Tracer mix and identify the Twin Cities Ordnance Plant (TW 68). The can is used but in great, fully functional condition with its rubber gasket intact and a beautiful authentic patina.
