Unlike the more common embroidered tapes, this is the highly sought-after printed version. This quick and cheap manufacturing method was used right after the Army authorized subdued insignia in 1966. Because the ink washed out and faded extremely quickly in the jungle, they were soon replaced. This specific piece is in pristine, unissued New Old Stock (NOS) condition—never washed, never sewn, with flawlessly sharp, dark text.
